Commissioner continues recovery from transplant

Currituck County Commissioner Vance Aydlett continues to make an excellent recovery from a liver transplant surgery performed on Aug. 16 at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Aydlett was released from MCV on Aug. 27, according to a news release.

He will remain in Richmond for about two weeks to for outpatient care at the Hospital Hospitality House for the monitoring and regulation of medications related to the liver transplant.

Throughout his recovery, Aydlett is staying involved with county business through e-mail and telephone conversations with County Manager Dan Scanlon, county staff and the Board of Commissioners, the statement said.

Aydlett expects to make a full recovery and will resume attending meetings as soon as he is released by his doctors.

The Republican from Knotts Island is running unopposed in the November election.
