84-year-old woman drowned in northern Currituck

Currituck authorities say the body of an 84-year-old woman was found in Tulls Bay on the morning of Aug. 12.

Robinette Ballard had been reported missing around 7 a.m. by family members from their home in the 1700 block of Tulls Creek Road, according to Currituck County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lindsay Vorhees.

Her body was discovered in the water by deputies at 9:30 a.m., Vorhees said.

Ballard’s death has been ruled an apparent drowning.
