Local DJs donate to family of hit-and-run victim
A pair of local DJs are donating the door receipts collected at three upcoming end-of-summer parties at a local establishment to the family of a bicyclist killed this week in a hit-and-run.
Dmytro Palii, 20, died Tuesday from injuries suffered when he was hit by an alleged drunk driver on the Beach Road in Kill Devil Hills.
The Ukraine national was an employee of Food Lion in Nags Head, and the retailer is now accepting donations to Palii’s family at locations nationwide.
DJ Andy and DJ Misha will be spinning tunes at the Summer Beat end-of-season student parties each Sunday the rest of August at Kelly’s Restaurant and Tavern, and both have a personal connection with the homeland of Dymtro Palii.
“My son is half Russian, and Misha is a native of Russia, and we both understand how difficult this is for Dymtro’s family,” said Andy Scoggins.

A big THX to Bobs Grille….he was the first to donate yesterday morning after the radio spot courtesy of Beach 104. Then Eric from the Outer Banks Brewing Station followed along with Kitty Hawk Kites and Food Lion began a fund drive at all of it’s OBX locations. After putting my number out citizens from Elizabeth City asked about donating at their Food Lion…..all came within a couple of hours of going on the radio. Thx again Beach 104….The Outer Banks Voice and all of the citizens and businesses that have donated for Dymtro’s family.
