Currituck, Camden paving shifts into high gear
And repaving of sections of N.C. 168 in northern Currituck and U.S. 158 in eastern Camden County are getting into high gear.
After the first layer of pavement is completed in the next few weeks, crews will start laying a second layer of skid-resistant asphalt from the Wright Memorial Bridge to the Barco intersection, with completion expected in mid-November.
Resurfacing of U.S. 158 from Belcross to the Camden/Currituck line and N.C. 168 in Moyock started last week.
To limit the amount of traffic delays, the NCDOT is requiring the contractors to only work Monday through Thursday until after Labor Day.

Brilliant timing to pave during peak tourist season! duh!
James says:
Local fella – hot asphalt needs to be applied at high temperatures, around 250 degrees, or else it won’t lay right. How many road crews do you see working in the cooler months? Do you think they enjoy laying asphalt in the summer, just for kicks?

How bout at least lessening the bump at the end of the pulled up road on 168 really stinks to have to jam on brakes or worse yet hit that full steam in a sports car..
