Another evening, another round of severe weather Tuesday across northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks.

Downed trees and power lines were reported in parts of Beaufort and Bertie counties, north of Edenton, and in Kitty Hawk. Small hail was also reported in Harbinger. At the storms peak, at least 6,000 customers lost power.

The storms, however, provided a break from days of hot, muggy weather. Today will be sunny with highs around 84.

A northeast breeze will keep things cool before July weather quickly returns Thursday with highs in the 90s and a chance of thunderstorms.
