Schedules altered on Ocracoke-mainland ferries
Due to problems with two of its vessels, the N.C. Department of Transportation Ferry Division cancelled several runs on the Pamlico Sound route Wednesday, and there could also be cancellations Thursday.
Three departures on the Ocracoke-Cedar Island route were cancelled Wednesday, while other departures were changed Wednesday afternoon and evening to accommodate traffic.
“The M/V Pamlico has a problem with the fire pump,” said Lucy Wallace, NCDOT Ferry Division communications officer.
“The M/V Sea Level has several issues that must be fixed in order for the boat to pass U.S. Coast Guard inspection,” Wallace said. “To make matters even more difficult, the M/V Silver Lake is here at the shipyard being worked on for a leaking valve.”
For more information about possible delays or cancellations, call Cedar Island at (252) 225-7411, Ocracoke at (252) 928-1665 or Swan Quarter at (252) 926-6021.
Those with a reservation on the cancelled runs can call 800-293-3779 (BY-FERRY), and press 2 to obtain a refund or reschedule.
