Theatre Arts Camp offered by The Lost Colony

| July 13, 2012

There is a summer camp on Roanoke Island that does not involve water sports or arts and crafts.  It does not have campfires with marshmallows or relay races.  What is does have is theatre…live theatre for children.

The camp is run by members of The Lost Colony company and is created for young boys and girls with an interest in the theater.  This is the fourth year for this expanding program for young people who wish to discover the rewards of teamwork.

Performing in front of a live audience exposes the camp members to a practical learning experience that will carry over to other activities in their development.

The first two sessions were for rising first graders to age 9.  The week-long session ended with a production of Disney’s The Jungle Book, KIDS

The third session will start on July 16 and run through July 20.  This session is for children 10 to 16. This group will produce the musical Once On This Island, Jr..

Space is still available, and anyone interested in joining the group should call (252) 473-4226 and speak with Lance Culpepper.
