Good Samaritan killed in Currituck crash
A Good Samaritan was killed early Thursday in Currituck County while attempting to help another driver with his disabled vehicle.
The Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at the corner of Shortcut and Barco roads around 1 a.m.
The disabled pickup had stalled in the intersection, and the driver was joined by the Good Samaritan in trying to flag down other motorists to help.
A tractor-trailer stopped, but another pick-up did not, slamming into the broken-down truck and the two men.
The Good Samaritan died at the scene, while the other man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The second pick-up driver was flown to a Norfolk hospital. No names have been released by the Highway Patrol, and their investigation continues.
