Several funnel clouds, water spouts and a tornado were spotted around the region Tuesday, as a stalled front is bringing stormy weather and a much needed respite from last week’s heat wave.
Funnel clouds and water spouts were reported Tuesday morning over the North River between Currituck and Camden counties and Kitty Hawk Bay near Colington.
Tuesday evening in Hyde County, a tornado was reported near Mount Pleasant. No damage has been reported.
Thunderstorms are possible again Wednesday, but temperatures will reach only around 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
