Identity released of Moyock hit-and-run victim

The Highway Patrol has released the name of man killed Saturday morning while walking alongside a road in northern Currituck County.

Jacob Bezik, 20, of Moyock died after he was struck around 5 a.m. by a hit-and-run vehicle on Puddin Ridge Road.

State troopers are still searching for the driver and vehicle involved.

Bezik is the second person to die in the past year while walking on the narrow, 2-lane road that connects several large neighborhoods and the former Blackwater compound with Highway 168.
