Survivors land on beach 2 miles from boat mishap
Four people aboard a boat that capsized were carried by currents for two miles Friday before they washed onto the beach at Ocracoke, Hyde County reported in a statement.
One of the passengers was taken to a hospital by Coast Guard helicopter after being treated by Hyde County EMS and the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, the statement said.
Dispatchers were called at about 7 p.m. with a report that a 23-foot Grady White boat had capsized near Hatteras Inlet.
Rough seas were reported at the time.
