Trial begins in 2010 Kill Devil Hills stabbing death

The trial is under way of a Kill Devil Hills man accused in the stabbing of another man nearly two years ago during a fight on the Beach Road.

James Presson, 25, faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of Brandon Presgraves.

The two reportedly began arguing at a restaurant in the early morning hours of June 7, 2010, then got into a fight near the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Virginia Dare Trail, where Presgraves was found dead.

Presson voluntarily came forward as having been involved in the fight, according to a police statement. Kill Devil Hills police Capt. Gene Johnson said at the time that there had apparently been an earlier altercation at Port O’ Call Restaurant.

Jury selection in Dare County Superior Court ended Tuesday morning and opening statements are expected to start this afternoon.
