Complaint leads to charges against probation officer

A complaint from a Dare County woman has led to the arrest of a state probation officer on sexual offense charges.
The woman alleged that her probation officer had initiated improper contact with her during an interview, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Thomas Patrick Kennedy, 31, of Harbor View Drive in Kill Devil Hills was arrested on charges of attempted sex offense by an employee of a government institution and misdemeanor sexual battery.
Kennedy was released on $43,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
