Nags Head Woods marsh burn set for Tuesday

| February 27, 2012

A scheduled controlled burn of sound-side marsh land in the Nags Head Woods will begin Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Two areas are being burned to remove debris and reduce the danger of wildfires.

The controlled burns were originally scheduled to take place two weeks ago, but weather and other conditions were not conducive for them to take place safely.

The North Carolina Forest Service is managing the burn, while fire units from the towns of Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head will be on the scene.
