Currituck County’s first YMCA opened to the public Tuesday.
The 76,000-square-foot facility, built at a cost of $13.5 dollars as a partnership between the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and Currituck County.
It includes indoor and outdoor pools with a splash park, a gymnasium, workout and weight rooms, an elevated indoor running track and other amenities.
The county’s recreation department and senior center will be opening their facilities next month at the building on U.S. 158 next to Central Elementary School, about 2 miles west of Barco.
