Outer Banks Voice reaches another milestone

| August 17, 2011

Thanks to our readers and advertisers, The Outer Banks Voice has reached another milestone. As of 10 a.m. on Aug. 16, the Voice had collected its 1 millionth page view for the 2011 calendar year.

Since the Voice debuted on Jan. 21, 2010, the site has now registered 1.7 million page views, 752,000 visits and 263,809 unique visitors. Our average reader accesses more than two pages on the site on each visit.

Readers and advertisers have been the driving force in making these numbers possible. Readers often forward links to our stories, especially on Facebook, where some 6,400 fans have used the social media network to repost stories. In addition, Max Radio of the Carolinas routinely features the Voice on its newscasts, which has exposed our site to numerous vacationers who continue to read the Voice when the return home.

Once again, none of this would be possible without our loyal readers and the advertisers who have supported us from the first day. We thank you for that support and we hope the Voice continues to report stories of interest to you while allowing our readers to lend their voice in form of comments and posts.

Your number of page views and the robust number of people who are reading what you’re putting online daily is proof that while newspaper readership may well be dying, the interest in local news information is not. It’s the medium that’s changed . . . the message is still important.
