Tourism spending in North Carolina jumped 9 percent in 2010 over the previous year, and 98 of 100 counties saw an increase in money spent by visitors, including 13 with double digit hikes.
Statewide, $17 billion dollars was spent last year according to figures released by the state Department of Commerce.
Dare County, which saw an 8.8-percent increase from last year, had the fourth highest total spending in the state at over $830 million dollars.
Currituck was 30th at $117 million dollars.
A total of more than $1.2 billion dollars was spent in the 15-county northeast region, an increase of 5.6 percent.
Tyrrell and Camden had the lowest spending in the state, at $3.1 million and $1.7 million respectively. Northampton and Columbus were the only counties in the state to see a drop from 2009 to 2010.
