St. Patrick’s Parade is a grand celebration of spring

PICTURE PERFECT weather welcomed the 22nd Annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Nags Head. The event traditionally kicks off the spring season on the Outer Banks.

“parade 5″ is Moon Tillett driving the Linda Gayle replica from the Moon Tillett Fishing Company. Moon rides with the Shriners and is 80+ years old!

Pix 6 is Chris East on the unicycle. Chris usually rides with the Shriners at parades. When he was an infant, a Shrine hospital performed free surgery to repair a life-threatening birth defect. He became a Mason and a Shriner because of the charity, and is now master of Manteo Lodge 521.

For the Kelly parade, Chris rides his unicycle as a solo act, and his wife Tammy drives a mini kiddie train where the cars are fashioned from 50 gallon oil druns.

There was a very noticeable lack of floats this year. A lot of company vehicles. Signs of the times, I guess.:S
We still had a blast, though.
Oh… & it’s good to see some business is thriving. I’m talking about the army of law enforcement rampaging. Unbelievable.:/
