Nags Head has dedicated its recently completed west side multi-use path to police Sgt. Earl Murray, who died while on duty in May 2009.

The dedication took place Wednesday at 11 a.m. on the path at the corner of W. Satterfield Landing Road and U.S. 158 near Staples.

Murray had more than 26 years of law enforcement experience. He died after his car skidded off the road while he was responding to a burglary call.

He was the first officer in Nags Head’s history to be killed in the line of duty.

Great to have a way to remember Earl . . .

Hope a photo can somehow be posted with the memorial. Earl was great to work with. A real pro.
