Group seeks sponsors, volunteers for marathon

Outer Banks Sporting Events is looking for sponsors and volunteers to support three upcoming events.

The fifth Outer Banks Marathon and Half Marathon are scheduled for the Veteran’s Day weekend, Nov. 12 to 14.

Sept. 18 and 19 are the dates for the Outer Banks Triathlon Festival and the Flying Pirate Half Marathon is set for April 9 and 10 next year.

The group is an umbrella organization that plans and promotes sporting events that draw visitors to the area during the shoulder seasons.

Proceeds from the events benefit the Dare Education Foundation and the Outer Banks Relief Foundation. Donations are tax deductible and can be paid in a lump sum or in installments.
